Cooking Cinema: Everything Everywhere All At Once Scallion Oil Noodles
Welcome back to our show-stopping series, Cooking Cinema! In this episode, we’re diving into the culinary world of the Academy Award-winning film Everything Everywhere All At Once by recreating the classic and tasty Scallion Oil Noodles. We absolutely loved the mind-bending film, which follows Evelyn Quan Wang, a Chinese-American immigrant, and her family’s adventure throughout the multiverse. These Scallion Oil Noodles, considered a comfort food by many Chinese families, represent the heart of the movie: home and family.
This delicious classic is steeped in culture as well, hailing from the vibrant streets of Shanghai. Street cart vendors and food hall cooks toss bouncy wheat noodles in a fragrant and savory mix of scallion-infused oil, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar and top off the dish with crispy, caramelized scallions. Mouthwatering, right?
What’s even more appetizing is how easy and quick this meal is to make—it takes just fifteen minutes and requires only a handful of ingredients. It's perfect for those nights when you want something scrumptious without spending hours in the kitchen. Traditionally, this dish uses lo mein noodles, but we’re giving it a twist with our 3D Meteor Noodles, which offer a healthy option as they’re not deep-fried, like conventional packaged ramen noodles, and allow for each noodle strand to be perfectly coated in sauce due to it's unique ridged noodle shape.
Ready to get cooking? Let's go! First, prep your scallions by slicing them thinly. We used one whole green onion for a serving, but for our scallion enthusiasts, feel free to add more 😊. Next, heat one tablespoon of neutral oil (we used vegetable) in a pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add one teaspoon of minced garlic, and then toss in the scallions.
As your scallions turn golden brown, add both sauce packets from our Meteor Noodles with Spicy Dan Dan Sauce to create a rich and creamy base for your noodles. As the sauce is simmering, boil water and cook the noodles for five minutes. When they’re done, add them to the pan and mix everything together, letting the noodles soak up all the delicious sauce. And voila—the dish is ready!
Our sauces are bursting with taste, adding the perfect twist to the classic Scallion Oil Noodle dish, and allow us to create meals that are tasty, flavorful, and convenient—the perfect trifecta.

Everything Everywhere All At Once Scallion Noodles Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon of oil
- 1 teaspoon of minced garlic
- 1 thinly sliced scallion
- 1 Meteor Noodles with Spicy Dan Dan Sauce
- 1 Sesame packet
- 1 Spicy Soy packet
Instructions:
- Begin by washing and preparing one stalk of scallion. Cut the scallion into thinly sliced pieces, making sure they're uniform for even cooking.
- In a pan, add one tablespoon of oil. Heat it over medium-high heat until it’s semi-hot. Add one teaspoon of minced garlic to the pan and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Add the thinly sliced scallions to the pan with the garlic. Stir them well to coat them in the garlic-infused oil. Cook until the scallions are brown and caramelized, releasing their aromatic flavor.
- Open the sesame packet and spicy soy packet from Meteor Noodles with Spicy Dan Dan Sauce. Add both packets to the pan, mixing them with the garlic and scallions to create a savory sauce.
- While the scallion mixture is cooking, prepare the Meteor Noodles according to the package instructions. This usually involves boiling the noodles for about 5 minutes. Once cooked, drain the noodles well.
- Add the cooked and drained noodles to the pan with the sauce. Use tongs or chopsticks to mix everything thoroughly, ensuring the noodles are well coated with the sauce. Continue to cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the noodles to absorb all the delicious flavors.
- Once everything is well combined, plate the noodles and serve. Enjoy your Everything Everywhere All At Once-inspired Scallion Noodles!
